Sifu Rik Kellerman

Sifu Rik Kellerman has been involved in the study of Martial Arts for over forty years.

He began his study in Bak Siu Lum P’ai (Northern Shaolin System) at age 15, and has since then studied various Martial Arts earning several Black Belt rankings, but his chosen specialization for over thirty years has been Siu Lum Hung Kuen, also known as Hung-Gar Kung‑Fu.

Sifu Kellerman represents the eighth generation from the founder of the system, and the first generation of non-Chinese to be teaching this art.

His school, TEN TIGERS KUNG-FU ACADEMY, located in Huntington, Long Island, is one of the only schools outside of Chinatown that teaches traditional, authentic Kung-Fu.

Since the late seventies, Sifu Kellerman has been a well known tournament competitor, having amassed numerous Championship and Grand Championship titles in Fighting, Forms, Weapons and Self-Defense categories. Due to his vast competition experience, he is highly sought after as a judge and official at many tournaments. He has also taught and demonstrated his art throughout the United States, as well as overseas.

Sifu Kellerman has been called a “Dinosaur,” by some, and an “Innovator,” by others.

A Dinosaur by some of his peers, due to the fact that he refuses to compromise his integrity, or that of his, art by watering it down for the sake of commercialization. This, he feels would be destroying a legacy.

Considered an “Innovator,” by others, because he has developed a method of teaching practical applications for the real world, while still retaining the true art, or as he calls it, “A Modern Approach to a Traditional Art.”
